Heck of a NAS. Ease of installation was great, guided setup, advanced features, 3rd party/community tools at the flip of a switch. So much built into the DSM-OS.
Ports, access control, SSL, and all sorts of features made incredibly easy over TrueNAS, over OpenMediaVault.
If you’re just starting out, it’s 100% worth it for the feature set.
If you’re tinkerer maybe the other open sourced solutions are for you, but for set it and forget it, synology is a great option.
This one in particular is upgradable, takes any data drive I’ve got, allows for expansion, I only wish I’d of gotten the RP version for dual link to my battery backups.
